The trade that sent F Zach Randolph from the Knicks to the Clippers was completed, though G Cuttino Mobley still wasn't available to play for New York.

The deal, made Friday, was delayed when the Knicks reportedly learned of a heart condition during Mobley's physical. Randolph was prevented from playing Monday night for the Clippers because of the hang-up.

New York waived the physical requirement so the deal could be finalized.

Knicks President Donnie Walsh wouldn't reveal the nature of Mobley's medical condition, but said Mobley wouldn't be available last night against the Cavaliers or tonight at the Pistons while additional tests were performed.

F Tim Thomas, acquired along with Mobley, was in uniform for New York last night against Cleveland.

Walsh added he didn't know if Mobley would ever play for the Knicks. Coach Mike D'Antoni said before the game he was "anxious" about Mobley's status.

· BOBCATS: Top scorer Jason Richardson practiced yesterday for the first time since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery and could play today in Toronto.

"It felt good," Richardson said. "It's still a little weak, but it was good to finally get out there 100 percent moving around, shooting and running up and down the court. We didn't do a lot of contact, but it felt good."

· WILLIAMS TRIAL: New Jersey's Supreme Court will determine what role a racial slur will play in the reckless manslaughter retrial of former Nets star Jayson Williams.

The court said it would hear oral arguments from prosecutors and defense attorneys. No date was set.

The slur was uttered by an investigator who didn't testify in Williams's first trial in 2004 and later retired.
