OLD FRIENDS: This marks the seventh time since 2001 that George Washington and Tennessee have met in the regular season; the Lady Vols have won the previous six meetings by an average of 21.7 points. This is the first time that the Colonials have faced a Tennessee team that is ranked lower than sixth nationally. The last time the Lady Vols came to the Smith Center (Dec. 7, 2005), they were undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the country.

FINDING THEIR TOUCH: After struggling with their shooting during a two-game road trip in Kentucky, the Colonials shot 50 percent from the field while beating South Alabama and Hartford in their Thanksgiving Classic last week. Senior center Jessica Adair (Anacostia), who was named the event's most valuable player, scored 34 points in the two games. She scored what was then a career-high 23 points in an 85-62 loss to Tennessee in December 2006.

NEW FACES: The Lady Vols -- with seven freshmen, four sophomores and one senior on the roster -- bear little resemblance to the team that won its second straight NCAA title in April. Sophomore Angie Bjorklund, the SEC rookie of the year, was the only player at the beginning of the season who had regular starting experience, but she missed the first five games because of a back injury. A trio of freshmen -- Glory Johnson, Shekinna Stricklen, and Kelley Cain -- lead Tennessee in scoring.
