Calvert Donates Land For Housing Project
Nearly 6 1/2 acres of property at the former Calvert County Fairgrounds was donated recently by Calvert County commissioners for the Calvert Fair Workforce Housing Project.
The project will provide 32 cottages, ranging from 900 to 1,200 square feet, for people who have lived in Calvert for three of the past 10 years or who are employed by the county. Those with household incomes of up to 80 percent of the county's median income, or about $80,000, will be eligible to buy the homes.
The county Housing Authority is developing the plan for the property and will use revenue from the sale of the cottages for affordable housing.
