Born April 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Now lives in Malibu, Calif., with her husband, actor James Brolin.
Career highlights: Two-time Oscar winner, for Best Actress in "Funny Girl" (1968) and Best Song for "Evergreen" (1976). Winner of eight Grammys. Thirty of her albums have gone platinum.
Career lowlights: Starred in the dreary film comedies "For Pete's Sake" (1974) and "The Main Event" (1979).
