Early in your career you need to build a foundation to develop your reputation for embracing change. Kathleen Beauman, director of business education partnerships at Anne Arundel Community College, offers these tips:

· Understand "all aspects of the industry" and your employer. Figure out how the pieces fit together.

· Add initiatives beyond your job description.

· Learn to be a great collaborator.

· Seek a mentor who can help you understand what change will work.

· Develop "stretch goals" for yourself at work and in life.
