C Casey Rabach said he is expecting close friend Jon Jansen to play this weekend. After injuring his left knee on Sunday night, Jansen had an MRI exam yesterday, and the Redskins said it revealed a grade-two sprain of his medial collateral ligament.

"He's as boneheaded and tough as they come," Rabach said, but expressed confidence in youngsters Stephon Heyer and Chad Rinehart if Jansen were to join Pro Bowl LT Chris Samuels (torn triceps) on the sideline.

Rabach said he will work hard to get the younger players ready, if need be, and try to help them through the game with his calls and adjustments.

"I'm really not that worried about these two guys coming in," Rabach said. "We're gonna be all right."

Rabach is taking a lot of the responsibility for communication problems the team had Sunday night and is addressing issues that could exist should Heyer and Rinehart have to join the mix.

"I've got to do a better job of making sure everybody understands everything," Rabach said.

Heyer said he is preparing to play left or right tackle with both starters ailing.

"I have to be physically prepared to play either side," he said.

Heyer played against the Ravens and said he "did all right," adding it was a difficult mental adjustment switching from the right to the left midgame.

Rinehart, a third-round pick who has yet to be active this season, is also thinking he might have to be ready Sunday. The former college tackle who is being converted to guard said he plays equally well on either side.

"I feel like I've been ready for a while," Rinehart said.
