FEDERAL COURT

Kerry Campaign Worker Charged in Theft

A 39-year-old former District man has been charged with stealing more than $100,000 in campaign contributions from Sen. John F. Kerry's unsuccessful bid for the White House in 2004.

Shane E. Tessimond, who lived in the District during the time of the alleged theft and now lives in New Hampshire, was indicted by a federal grand jury last week on charges of bank fraud and identity theft. The charges were unsealed yesterday. Federal prosecutors allege that Tessimond, who worked as a check processor for the Massachusetts Democrat's campaign from 2002 through August 2003, stole campaign checks and gave them to Mark J. Parsi, who deposited them into a bank account in the name of Kerry LLC.
