Police Investigate Shooting in Northwest D.C.

District police are investigating the shooting death of a man early this morning near the grounds of Shaw Junior High School.

The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of 11th St., N.W.

Few details were released as the investigation proceeded. Several blocks of the area were closed to traffic.

Police Lt. Paul Wingate told WRC-TV that an officer in the area heard gunfire, and when he investigated found the body of the victim outside with several gunshot wounds.
