A sport-utility vehicle crashed into a D.C. public school bus in Southeast Washington yesterday afternoon, sending four people to the hospital, including two with serious injuries, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. at 28th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE when a Cadillac Escalade collided with a school bus carrying a driver, a driver's assistant and a 13-year-old student, said Alan Etter, a D.C. fire and EMS spokesman.

The driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Etter said. The assistant and student were also taken for observation. The assistant had elevated blood pressure, he said.

The Escalade's driver was also taken to the hospital with injuries that were serious but not believed to be life-threatening, Etter said.
