Karen Gordon Mills
Current Job: Mills is president of MMP Group, a private equity investor and adviser in Brunswick, Maine. She also chairs Maine's Council on Competitiveness and the Economy and serves as a director of Scotts Miracle-Gro and Arrow Electronics, a semiconductor distributor.
Credentials: Mills, 55, was a founder and managing director of Solera Capital, a private equity firm based in New York. She was also chief operating officer of E.S. Jacobs, a private investment firm. The Harvard Business School graduate is a close economic adviser to Maine Gov. John E. Baldacci (D) and worked on President-elect Barack Obama's transition team.
What she offers: A quarter-century's experience in the private equity and venture capital arena. She also has experience working with state government on business development.
