WHEN: 11 a.m. WHERE: RFK Stadium, Washington (47,863). FORECAST: Cloudy, mid-30s.
TV: ESPN. RADIO: WTOP (103.5 FM), WFED (1050 AM), WBAL (1090 AM), WNAV (1430 AM), WTRI (1520 AM).
RECORDS: Midshipmen 8-4; Demon Deacons 7-5.
COACHES: Ken Niumatalolo (8-4, first year); Jim Grobe (46-39, eighth year).
WHEN THE MIDSHIPMEN HAVE THE BALL: Senior quarterback Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada has had success against Wake Forest in his career, though both of his previous appearances against the Demon Deacons were cut short by injuries. In Navy's 24-17 win at Wake Forest on Sept. 27, Kaheaku-Enhada led the Midshipmen to scores on three of their first four possessions to open up a 17-0 lead, then re-aggravated a hamstring injury. Senior fullback Eric Kettani, who ran for 175 yards in the first meeting, needs just 68 to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the season. Wake Forest senior Aaron Curry, who had 10 tackles against Navy, won the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker.
WHEN THE DEMON DEACONS HAVE THE BALL: The Demon Deacons repeatedly shot themselves in the foot against Navy in September, turning over the ball six times, which the Midshipmen turned into 17 points. Usually reliable quarterback Riley Skinner was intercepted four times -- in his other 11 games, the senior had a total of three interceptions -- and lost a fumble. Skinner has thrown for 2,181 yards and has completed 62.8 percent of his passes. Navy held Wake Forest to a season-low 43 yards on the ground.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Navy senior Matt Harmon has made 17 of 19 field goal attempts this season, and needs to convert one more to tie the Navy season record (Steve Fehr had 18 in 1981). His Wake Forest counterpart, Sam Swank, had a chance to reach the ACC and NCAA records for career field goals made, but missed six games because of a quadriceps injury.
COACHES: Niumatalolo got his first significant win as a head coach at Wake Forest; at the time, the Demon Deacons were undefeated and ranked 16th in the country. Grobe has Wake Forest in a bowl game for the third straight season, something that has never happened before in program history.
