IAABO BOARD 134 CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT
Where: C.H. Flowers.
Top teams: No. 1 Riverdale Baptist, No. 3 Arundel, No. 5 Forest Park, No. 6 Good Counsel, No. 9 Wise and No. 17 C.H. Flowers.
Players to watch: Riverdale Baptist has three players averaging between 12 and 13 ppg, led by 6-foot-3 senior forward Tianna Hawkins (Maryland). Forest Park senior guard Danni Jackson (George Washington) recently scored 44 points in a game. Like Jackson, Arundel 6-3 senior center Simone Egwu (Virginia) is one of three Division I commitments on her team.
What makes it so good: Of the eight teams in the main bracket, six are ranked. Forest Park has been to six consecutive state tournaments in Virginia. Arundel is the defending Maryland 4A runner-up. Good Counsel has won or tied for the WCAC regular season crown the past three years.
Draw it up: Wise and host Flowers could meet in a semifinal; they played a six-point game last week. A Forest Park-Arundel final would pit defending state finalists, but Arundel would have to beat both Good Counsel and Riverdale for that to happen.
Tip-off: First game in the main bracket is at 3 p.m. Friday, but there are two earlier games in a separate bracket: South County-Largo at noon and Duval-No. 13 Georgetown Visitation at 1:30.
Final: Dec. 29, 7:30 p.m.

BOJANGLES' SHOOTOUT
Where: Waxhaw, N.C.
Top teams: Bishop McNamara is the only Washington area team, but the field also includes St. Michael's Academy (N.Y.), ranked nationally by USA Today earlier this season, Charlotte power Butler, and West Charlotte, a North Carolina 4A finalist last season.
What makes it so good: Last season, the Mustangs won two of three games at the event, losing by five points to Notre Dame Academy. In the first round this year, McNamara draws Butler, a team the Charlotte Observer touts as one with "eight college recruits and as many as six high-major recruits." Butler's 6-3 Cierra Burdick is one of the top sophomores in the country. West Charlotte has senior guard-forward Nikki Burton (Louisville) and senior guard Christal Caldwell (Florida).
