Dante Cunningham had 24 points and 10 rebounds and Scottie Reynolds added 23 points as No. 18 Villanova held off visiting Navy, 78-68, last night.
Corey Stokes had 11 points and Antonio Pena contributed 12 rebounds for the Wildcats (11-1).
Junior Chris Harris had career highs of eight three-pointers and 30 points for the Midshipmen (8-4). Kaleo Kina added 15 points.
Adam Teague hit a long three-pointer to pull Navy within 65-61 with 4 minutes 41 seconds to play and a free throw by Kina made it 67-64 with 2:38 left, but the Midshipmen came no closer.
Villanova led 37-28 at halftime.
· WAKE FOREST 95, EAST CAROLINA 54: Al-Farouq Aminu had 21 points and 12 rebounds to power the No. 6 Demon Deacons to an overwhelming victory on the road.
Chas McFarland had 14 points for Wake Forest (11-0), which led by four points at halftime before opening the second half with a 15-3 run. The Demon Deacons outscored the Pirates by a 54-17 margin after the break.
Darrius Morrow scored 14 points for East Carolina (8-3).
· OKLAHOMA 70, RICE 58: In Houston, freshman Willie Warren scored 31 points and Blake Griffin posted his ninth double-double of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead the fourth-ranked Sooners (12-0).
· NOTRE DAME 81, SAVANNAH ST. 49: Luke Harangody piled up 23 points and 13 rebounds for the eighth-ranked Irish (9-2), who coasted in South Bend, Ind. Kyle McAlarney became the 49th Notre Dame player to reach 1,000 points.
· BAYLOR 79, HARTFORD 54: Curtis Jerrells had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to pace the No. 21 Bears (10-1) at home.
· PURDUE 70, IPFW 55: JaJuan Johnson had 21 points and nine rebounds for the No. 10 Boilermakers (10-2) in West Lafayette, Ind.
· OHIO STATE 83, UNC ASHEVILLE 59: Freshman B.J. Mullens had six dunks, scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds to spark the host No. 15 Buckeyes (9-0).
· SYRACUSE 82, COPPIN STATE 71: Andy Rautins equaled Gerry McNamara's 2004 school record with nine three-pointers and scored 29 points for the host No. 17 Orange (12-1). The Eagles fell to 1-8.
· MICHIGAN 76, FLORIDA-GULF COAST 59: DeShawn Sims had 20 points and 18 rebounds for the No. 24 Wolverines (9-2) at home.
