PUBLIC WORKS
City Crews to Begin Collecting Christmas Trees Starting Friday
The D.C. Department of Public Works will pick up Christmas trees during a special collection starting Friday, officials said.
Residents who have regular trash collection are encouraged to place holiday trees and other greenery, without ornaments or tinsel, between the sidewalk and the curb by Friday.
Trees not collected by Jan. 17 should be placed with regular trash, and the city will pick them up as truck space permits in the coming weeks. Residents can also take trees to the Fort Totten transfer station from 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays for free tree chipping.
