On April 15, a federal jury convicted Deborah Jeane Palfrey, right, of running a prostitution ring in the D.C. area, rejecting her argument that she was unaware for 13 years that female escorts she employed were paid to perform sex acts. The so-called "D.C. madam," who had been scheduled to be sentenced in July, committed suicide in May by hanging herself. Here, her mother, Blanche Johnson Palfrey, follows her back to court in April.
