New DVDs you can watch this weekend:

MARQUEE NAMES

· Surfer, Dude (R) If by some chance you haven't seen Matthew McConaughey shirtless lately, then this is your week. He plays a soul-searching surfer who spends almost the entire movie half-naked. Post critic Neely Tucker put it bluntly: "You can stick around for the only funny line, which involves a breakfast burrito, but the smart surfer would head for the hills." Extras include behind-the-scenes footage and commentary by McConaughey.

· Towelhead (R) Alan Ball ("American Beauty") directs this adaptation of Alicia Erian's 2005 novel about a Lebanese-American girl's sexual awakening. Tucker said the movie is clever and original but that much of it is "off-key, the comic timing starts to miss a beat, and there's camera work that teeters on the edge of voyeurism. . . . After a while, it starts feeling just plain creepy." Extras include a panel discussion hosted by Ball with two of the actors and author Erian.

OTHERS OF NOTE

· Battle for Haditha (R) A dramatization of the killing of 24 Iraqi civilians by Marines in 2005.

· Woman on the Beach (Unrated) A movie director tries to woo two women at a resort in this comedy from Korean director Hong Sang-soo (in Korean with English subtitles).

· An American Carol (PG-13) David Zucker ("Airplane!") wrote and directed this comedy, which takes aim at Hollywood liberals. The Post's Paul Farhi gave the movie props for being "antic and energetic" but added that it is "so broad and toothless that it winds up just being lame."

TV to DVD

· Greek: Chapter 2 A popular girl and her geeky younger brother navigate the Greek system.

· Kyle XY: The Complete 2nd Season -- Revelations Catch up on the saga of the hunky belly-button-less clone before he comes back for a third season this month.

· The Secret Life of the American Teenager: Season 1 This series focuses on high-schoolers and such hot-button issues as sex, pregnancy and religion.
