Metrobus in Fairfax
A special subsidy of some Metrobus routes in Fairfax County has expired, so the regular Metrobus fare of $1.25 with SmarTrip or $1.35 cash is in effect as of today on these routes:
2T Tysons Corner-Dunn Loring Line; 2W Vienna-Oakton Line; 3T Pimmit Hills Line; 12A, 12E, 12F, 12G Centreville South Line; 12C, 12D Centreville North Line; 12L, 12M Little Rocky Run-Vienna Line; 12R, 12S Sully Station-Vienna Line; 18R, 18S Burke Centre Line; 20F, 20W, 20X, 20Y Chantilly-Greenbriar Line; 24T McLean Hamlet-East Falls Church Line; 28T Tysons Corner-West Falls Church Line and the REX Richmond Highway Express Line.
12th Street Tunnel Ramp
The District plans to temporarily close the eastbound ramp to the 12th Street Tunnel as part of the rehabilitation of the 11th Street Bridge near L'Enfant Plaza in Southwest Washington. The ramp will be closed nightly between 7:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. Friday to Jan. 12.
Drivers crossing the 14th Street Bridge from Virginia can go north on 14th Street to get downtown, or take the L'Enfant Plaza exit to D Street SW. Detour signs will direct them to Seventh Street, the District Department of Transportation says.
Maryland Transit Cuts
Maryland has decided to reduce service on MARC trains and commuter buses starting Jan. 12 to save money as state transportation funding shrinks. The reductions are not as severe as the ones originally proposed in the fall but still affect thousands of riders.
For example, Train 871 to Brunswick will be eliminated Mondays through Thursdays but remain in service on Fridays. Sales of 10-trip tickets end Friday.
