A 16-year-old Woodbridge girl was killed yesterdayafternoon when the Chevy Aveo she was riding in crossed the median on Old Brige Road in the Lake Ridge section of Prince William County and crashed head on into a vehicle, police said.

Shelby B. Nicholson was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old driver, whose name was not released, lost control of the Aveo and crashed into a Lincoln Aviator at about 4:30 p.m. near Foresthill Road, Prince William spokeswoman Ofc. Erika Hernandez said.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Lincoln, a 22-year from Woodbridge, and her 51-year-old passenger, were treated and released, police said. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, Hernandez said. No charges have been filed in the case.
