The Cowboys released CB Adam Jones on Wednesday after being contacted by ESPN about a pending report of Jones's alleged involvement in a 2007 shooting, according to a report by the network.

The incident allegedly occurred outside an Atlanta area strip club in June 2007, when Jones was under suspension by the NFL. Jones is accused of arranging to have someone shoot at three men, according to the report.

According to ESPN, one of the alleged victims told the network that he had a dispute with Jones inside the club and then he and two other men had their car struck by bullets after they left the club. According to the report, an informant told police that Jones had ordered the shooting, but no charges were filed and the police no longer are actively investigating the case.

Jones denied the allegations and told the Dallas Morning News that he plans to sue ESPN over the report.

"That's stupid," Jones told the Morning News. "It's so stupid I have no more comments." . . .

The Cowboys hired Joe DeCamillis yesterday as their special teams coach, according to reports by Dallas area media outlets.

· CHARGERS: San Diego reportedly is planning for WR Vincent Jackson to play in Sunday's AFC semifinal at Pittsburgh. Jackson was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Jackson, who led the Chargers in receiving yards during the regular season, issued a written statement through the team later Tuesday saying he was innocent and doubted that charges would be filed against him.

· CARDINALS: WR Anquan Boldin sat out practice again and told reporters he won't test his strained left hamstring muscle until tomorrow before kickoff at Carolina.

It remains unclear if Boldin will be able to play against the Panthers in an NFC semifinal.

· TITANS: DE Kyle Vanden Bosch has been practicing this week and told reporters he expects to be back in the lineup tomorrow against the Ravens in an AFC semifinal. Vanden Bosch underwent surgery last month to have a groin injury repaired.

The Titans also expect to have back DT Albert Haynesworth after he missed the final two regular season games because of a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

· BRONCOS: CB Champ Bailey reportedly was scheduled to undergo elbow surgery yesterday. According to the Rocky Mountain News, Bailey will have torn ligaments in his left elbow repaired and faces a recovery period of three to four months. He is expected to be healed by training camp in July, according to the report.
