A man wanted in connection with a Howard County bank heist that left a teller wounded and a robber dead has been arrested, federal authorities said today.

Sharman Said, 26, of Burtonsville was identified as a suspect after investigators linked him to phone calls made by another of the alleged robbers, Anirudh Lakhan Sukhu.

Sukhu, 42, of Silver Spring was arrested several hours after the Nov. 20 robbery of the Bank of America branch on Ten Oaks Road in Clarksville. A teller was shot in the hand during the hold-up. Howard County police responded to the bank and chased the robbers into Prince George's and Montgomery counties.

As the three suspects fled, one of them fired at police, according to police accounts. Officers returned fire, fatally wounding Omar Burnett, 24, whose last known address was in Burtonsville.

Said is charged with armed bank robbery. He appeared in federal court late yesterday after being taken into custody by the FBI.

Sukhu has been indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit and committing an armed bank robbery and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.
