Find yourself on your way to an inaugural party tomorrow and realize you forgot your mascara or facial moisturizer? Stop at Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Target or Neiman Marcus and ask for one.

If you bought a cosmetic from one of the stores between May 29, 1994, and July 16, 2003, and are willing to sign a statement affirming that, they will give you one full-size product worth $18 to $25.

At the Macy's on 12th and G streets NW, the giveaway will be a "nice little perk" amid other inauguration events, general manager Samuel Muscarella said. "We've made provisions to accommodate the potential crowds" the giveaway might produce, on top of thousands more customers expected because of the inauguration. "We're expecting a pretty good response."

Each person is supposed to get just one product, and the giveaway will last a week or until products are gone.

"There's nothing to stop someone from visiting several places and doing it, but we're just relying on people's own sense of honesty," Neiman Marcus spokeswoman Ginger Reeder said.

The retailers agreed to the $175 million giveaway to settle a class-action lawsuit that alleged a number of cosmetic manufacturers and stores that carry their products conspired to fix prices during that time. They denied the charges but will stock stores with extra quantities of the brands to give to affected customers.
