When: 7 p.m. Where: Matthews Arena, Boston. Records: Patriots 14-3, 7-0 Colonial Athletic Association; Huskies 11-6, 6-1. TV: MASN. Radio: WTNT (570 AM), WWRC (1260 AM).

TRAVELING BAND: Off to their best CAA start ever, the Patriots face the most challenging stretch of the season with three of the next four games on the road. After tonight, they will visit preseason favorite Virginia Commonwealth on Saturday and, following a home game with Delaware on Tuesday, play at Old Dominion on Jan. 31. George Mason has won six straight and nine of 10, and its overall record is the finest for the program in 25 years. Though the Patriots do not have any significant nonconference victories, their RPI ranking has improved to No. 48.

STEADY AS SHE GOES: The Patriots have been fueled by a balanced offense (seven players averaging between 6.6 and 11.6 points), a defense that has held the past five opponents to less than 60 points and sub-39 percent shooting and three freshmen -- G Andre Cornelius and Fs Ryan Pearson and Mike Morrison -- who have joined the regular rotation. Consistency has also been a trademark as Coach Jim Larranaga has utilized the same starting lineup all season.

FIRST STUMBLE: The Huskies, picked to finish second in the CAA, missed an opportunity to set up a showdown between conference unbeatens when they lost Saturday at Hofstra, 57-52. They are yielding an average of 60.4 points, second in the CAA behind George Mason (59.5), and lead the league in forcing turnovers (15.4 per game). Junior G Matt Janning averages 14.9 points for Northeastern, which has only one senior starter. The Huskies are playing just their seventh game at home.
