DeWanna Bonner scored a career-high 35 points and unbeaten No. 6 Auburn raced to a late 24-point lead and earned an 82-68 victory over No. 10 Tennessee yesterday in Auburn, Ala.
Auburn (20-0, 5-0 SEC) set an attendance record of 12,067, breaking the 20-year-old school mark by nearly 5,000 fans. The Lady Vols had dominated the series, winning the past 16 meetings and routing the Tigers, 85-52, last season.
"I couldn't even find a parking spot," said Bonner, who arrived nearly two hours before the game and had little further difficulty finding open spots.
Auburn hadn't beaten Tennessee (15-4, 4-2) in 12 years or at home since 1991, losing 24 of the previous 25 meetings. The Tigers moved to their second-best start in school history.
Top-ranked Connecticut (19-0) is the only other unbeaten team in Division I.
· OKLAHOMA 89, TEXAS 69: Courtney Paris had 23 points and a season-best 21 rebounds, and Danielle Robinson added 18 points and eight assists for the host Sooners, who set up a showdown for first place in the Big 12.
Paris recorded her 110th consecutive double-double and the 10th of her career with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds as No. 3 Oklahoma (16-2, 5-0) stayed undefeated in conference play leading up to Wednesday's game against No. 5 Baylor.
Ashley Lindsey scored 15 points to lead the 14th-ranked Longhorns (14-4, 2-2), who gave up their most points of the season.
· DUKE 60, GEORGIA TECH 34: Abby Waner scored 14 points to help the No. 4 Blue Devils (17-1, 5-0 ACC) rout the visiting Yellow Jackets (14-5, 2-3).
Chante Black and Jasmine Thomas both scored 10 points for Duke, which claimed a share of first place in the conference with Florida State.
