SUPERIOR COURT
Three Nominees for Judgeship
The District's Judicial Nomination Commission has forwarded three names to President Obama to fill the D.C. Superior Court vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Linda D. Turner.
The commission nominated D.C. Superior Magistrate Judge Marisa J. Demeo; Elizabeth Sarah Gere, a partner at Troutman Sanders; and Florence Pan, an assistant U.S. attorney for the District.
The president has 60 days to name someone.

YOUTH
Community Groups Win Grants
Three community groups have been awarded grants from the D.C. Children and Youth Investment Trust, a public-private partnership.
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D) said the Latin American Youth Center and the Peaceoholics would each get a $239,000 grant for conflict mediation, crisis intervention, counseling, health care, education and job placement. Fenty said ROPE Inc. would also receive a grant, but the amount was not specified.
Millicent Williams, head of the investment trust, said the funds are part of the city's At-Risk Youth Assistance Program.
