Concert 'Sophisticated Lady: An Evening With Denyce Graves'

Put all the wondering about why Denyce Graves didn't sing at the inauguration behind you. The internationally celebrated mezzo-soprano -- a local who graduated from Duke Ellington School of the Arts -- won't have to share the bill when she performs a night of spirituals, classical and pop at the Kennedy Center late next month, accompanied by pianist Lee Musiker and the Duke Ellington Show Choir. $60-$75. 8 p.m. Feb. 25. Kennedy Center, Terrace Gallery, 2700 F St. NW. 202-467-4600 or

Concert The Boss Returns

If his downright spirited take on Woody Guthrie at the Lincoln Memorial this month didn't get you in the mood to shell out the bucks, perhaps tomorrow night's Super Bowl halftime Bruce-athon will remind you why Bruce Springsteen is one of the biggest music legends still working the stage. After selling out Verizon Center twice over in 2007 (of which Post critic J. Freedom Du Lac wrote: "The guiding principle of a Springsteen show is to deliver salvation and hope through song"), Springsteen and the E Street Band return this spring. Tickets for the show go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. $68-$98. May 18 at 7:30 p.m. Verizon Center, 601 F St. NW. Get tickets through, Ticketmaster locations, or call 877-598-8696.
