Takisha Granberry made six three-pointers and scored 27 points yesterday to lead visiting West Virginia to a 79-70 upset of fifth-ranked Louisville.
Liz Repella added 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Sarah Miles had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Mountaineers (13-9, 2-7 Big East), who had lost seven of their last nine.
"It's exciting," Miles said. "The usual thing is we always get to the end and can't finish. I felt like we finished this time."
All-American Angel McCoughtry led the Cardinals (21-3, 8-2) with 27 points and nine rebounds.
The teams went back and forth in the first half but Louisville looked like it had taken charge with a 12-2 run and led 36-25 at the half.
But midway through the second half, a three-pointer by Alex Sanabria gave West Virginia a 45-43 lead. Five minutes later, Repella's layup gave the Mountaineers their largest lead, 59-45, and they cruised the rest of the way.
ยท BAYLOR 59, KANSAS STATE 50: Jessica Morrow scored 17 points, Jhasmin Player added 16 points and the No. 8 Lady Bears pulled away late in Waco, Tex.
Baylor (19-3, 7-2 Big 12) snapped a two-game home losing streak. The Lady Bears avoided their first three-game home skid since the 1999-2000 season.
The Wildcats (19-3, 6-3) were within 45-43 before Baylor broke it open with a 13-0 run that was sparked by Player's seven points.
Danielle Wilson had her 12th double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Lady Bears. Ashley Sweat scored 17 points for Kansas State.
