Shootings Claim Three Lives

Three men were fatally shot in the District in the past three days, police said yesterday.

Manuel Garcia, 23, and another man were found shortly after 1 a.m. yesterday in the 3900 block of 14th Street NW. Both were taken to a hospital, where Garcia died about four hours later, said Officer Helen Andrews, a police spokeswoman. The second man was expected to recover.

On Saturday, one man was killed and another wounded in the 1600 block of W Street SE shortly after 10 p.m. Carlton Hill, 25, of Clinton was pronounced dead at the hospital; the second victim is expected to survive, Andrews said.

On Friday, Joseph Barton, 40, was found fatally shot near his home in the 1300 block of Fort Stevens Drive NW.
