The results are in and we're No. 1. Yes, Prince William County is the home of the longest commute in the country. According to the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, the average commute from Open Meadow Lane, off Linton Hall Road, is 46.3 minutes. That average is longer than commutes in the New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago areas. The Washington Post featured a front-page story on the longest area commutes Feb. 3. (The average commute for Dale City -- 41.3 minutes -- was also one of the longest. For more survey results, you can visit the Census Bureau's American FactFinder at http://factfinder.census.gov.)

Now that the Census Bureau has confirmed what we already knew, let's talk about how we would change this.

Tell us about your commute and what is needed to improve it. More trains? More buses? More flexible schedules? More highway lanes? More telecommuting? More jobs closer to home? Something no one has thought of yet?

Sound off on how your commute could be improved. Send e-mail to pwextra@washpost.com. Please put "my commute" in the subject line, and include your name and daytime phone number. Your input might be included in a story on Prince William commuters.

We look forward to hearing from you.
