Walter F. Klabacha Jr., 52, left his home early yesterday on a fishing trip on Clopper Lake, in Seneca Creek State Park near Germantown, said Sgt. Ken Turner of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police.
A park visitor called police to report an empty johnboat with its motor running, going in circles, Turner said.
Less than 15 minutes later, someone else found a body floating in the water. It was identified as Klabacha's, Turner said. No cause of death has been determined.

Another Arrest in La Plata Killing
Police have arrested three of four men accused of bursting into a La Plata home last week and killing a man during a robbery.
On Friday, Charles County sheriff's deputies arrested William Rouse, 22, of Waldorf, said sheriff's spokeswoman Diane Richardson. He joins Vigil Curvey, 21, of La Plata and Andrew Redfield, 22, of Fort Washington, who are in jail. All three are charged with first-degree murder in the Tuesday killing of Timothy Bryant, 30.
Another suspect, 24-year-old Antoine Smith of Fort Washington, is being sought. Richardson said the suspects had heard that drugs and cash were in the apartment and burst in on a group playing video games.
