Courtney Paris had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and No. 2 Oklahoma fought its way out of a second-half hole by holding fifth-ranked Baylor scoreless for 11 minutes on its way to a 66-58 victory yesterday in Norman, Okla.
After squandering a 15-point first-half lead, Oklahoma (24-2, 12-0 Big 12) trailed by six in the second half. That's when the Sooners made their defensive stand, holding the Bears scoreless while reeling off 15 straight points to regain the lead.
Danielle Wilson had her 15th double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bears (21-4, 9-3). Baylor, the Big 12's top rebounding team, was beaten on the boards for only the second time this season as Oklahoma held a 51-31 edge.
· LOUISVILLE 70, VILLANOVA 56: Angel McCoughtry scored 34 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the No. 8 Cardinals to a road win. Louisville (25-3, 12-2 Big East), which is off to its best start in school history, shot 57 percent.
· TEXAS A&M 76, TEXAS 65: Takia Starks overcame an 0-for-6 start to score 16 of her 18 points in the second half and lead the No. 14 Aggies to a win over the No. 12 Longhorns. Texas A&M (20-5, 8-4 Big 12) improved to 11-1 at home with its fifth consecutive win over Texas (19-7, 7-5).
· XAVIER 70, SAINT LOUIS 67: Tudy Reed had 16 points and 11 rebounds to help the No. 17 Musketeers, on the road, win their 15th straight game. Xavier (24-4, 12-0 Atlantic 10) has won 12 in a row over the Billikens (11-16, 5-7).
· KANSAS ST. 72, COLORADO 60: Ashley Sweat scored 22 points and Kelsey Nelson had 14 points and 13 rebounds as the No. 16 Wildcats (21-4, 8-4) won in Manhattan, Kan.
