STUCK AT 11: With the ACC standings still in flux during the regular season's final week, Virginia is locked into the ACC tournament's No. 11 seed. The Cavaliers will play the sixth-seeded team next week in Atlanta. That opponent has an outside chance of becoming Clemson if the Cavaliers can top the Tigers for the second time this season.
TURNOVER PROBLEMS: Virginia had 17 turnovers in Saturday's loss to Wake Forest and committed 20 turnovers when it beat the Tigers on Feb. 15. Taking care of the basketball becomes imperative against Clemson's pressure defense. The Tigers thrive when they create easy points off turnovers. "It becomes about possessions," Virginia Coach Dave Leitao said. "We give away possessions more than I'm comfortable with, where you don't give yourself a chance to score."
ON THE PROWL: Clemson has lost its last two games, and a first-round bye in the ACC tournament, which once appeared likely, now requires work. It will be difficult for Virginia to duplicate last month's success because the Tigers are at home and very much in need of a win. "We have a lot of things during the course of that game we need to do better," Leitao said, "and obviously, having lost two games in a row, I can almost guarantee you with all that I know that [Clemson is] going to come in focused and ready to play as any game that they've played all year long."
