Last night's slate of Washington area high school basketball games, including the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference and Virginia AAA Northern Region championship games, was postponed because of the snow that blanketed the region overnight.

The Northern Region boys' and girls' finals will be tonight at Robinson, with the girls' game at 6 and the boys' game at 8. Fifteenth-ranked T.C. Williams plays No. 4 Oakton in the girls' game and unranked Hayfield meets No. 4 T.C. Williams in the boys' contest.

The Virginia AAA state tournament starts Friday, and of the Virginia High School League's four AAA regions, only the Northwest Region tournament final has been played, with the Eastern and Central finals also postponed.

In Maryland, approximately 30 boys' region quarterfinals were postponed until schools resume.

There had been some thought that the WCAC would go ahead with its tournament finals, hopeful that the snow would stop in time for roads and parking lots to be cleared.

However, Gonzaga Athletic Director Joe Reyda said the decision was made to reschedule the games for Thursday night at American University's Bender Arena. No. 5 Good Counsel plays No. 16 Holy Cross in the girls' championship at 6 p.m., followed by No. 3 DeMatha and No. 6 Gonzaga in the boys' final at 8 p.m.
