A Briefing at Sidwell

What's the latest agenda item for Dad in Chief Barack Obama? A parent-teacher conference.

The president and first lady Michelle Obama left the White House on Friday afternoon to attend a parent-teacher meeting at the Bethesda campus of Sidwell Friends School, where daughter Sasha, 7, has been a student since January.

According to a pool report, crowds of people lined the streets to cheer the president's motorcade as it swept through the city.

Rihanna Under Oath?

A day after singer Chris Brown was charged with two felonies in connection with an alleged assault on girlfriend Rihanna, the big question: Will she testify against him?

Maybe. Rihanna's attorney, Donald Etra, told the Associated Press that his client would be required by law to testify if prosecutors subpoena her as a witness. In any case, Etra said Rihanna, 21, wants the case over quickly so she can "get along with her life and career."

In a court appearance Thursday, Brown, 19, was charged with assault and making criminal threats during a Feb. 8 altercation with Rihanna in Los Angeles. If convicted, he could face anything from probation to more than four years in state prison -- but a conviction could be hard to secure without Rihanna's testimony.

The couple has reconciled since the alleged incident and spent last weekend at a home owned by Sean "Diddy" Combs on Miami Beach's Star Island.

Oprah Shares Spotlight

People, big news: For the first time ever, Oprah Winfrey won't be O magazine's cover girl. Well . . . at least not the only one.

First lady Michelle Obama will be the first person other than Winfrey to grace the cover of O, the talk-show megastar's monthly mag. The April issue, showing Obama (orange shift dress, yellow sweater, clear plastic belt) and Winfrey (belted lilac gown) side by side outdoors, was first seen on yesterday's episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Inside the issue, Winfrey interviews Obama about life in the White House, touching on Obama's decorating philosophy and how she hopes she can help other women.

Winfrey has posed solo for all other covers -- just over 100 -- since the mag launched in May 2000.

Vince Vaughn to Tie Knot

Sounds like "Wedding Crasher" star Vince Vaughn has his own nuptials to think about. The actor is engaged to Kyla Weber, the bride-to-be's father spilled to Montreal's Gazette on Thursday.
