Jayne Appel had a season-high 29 points, Jeanette Pohlen scored 15 and No. 2 Stanford avoided sharing its ninth straight Pacific-10 Conference regular season title with Arizona State by beating the No. 18 Sun Devils, 77-68, yesterday in Stanford, Calif.

Arizona State, which had its 15-game winning streak snapped, lost leading scorer Dymond Simon for the season with a torn left knee ligament in the first half.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike had nine points for the Cardinal (26-4, 17-1).

Briann January had 19 points to lead Arizona State (23-7, 15-3).

-- BAYLOR 64, TEXAS A&M 60: Jessica Morrow scored 23 points as the No. 5 Bears beat the No. 10 Aggies in Waco, Tex.

Morrow hit a three-pointer with 3:14 left to put Baylor (25-4, 12-4 Big 12) up 55-53.

Texas A&M is 23-6, 11-5.

-- AUBURN 78, TENNESSEE 58: DeWanna Bonner scored 26 points and the No. 6 Tigers routed the No. 19 Lady Vols in the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament in North Little Rock, Ark.

Whitney Boddie added 19 points for Auburn (29-2).

Angie Bjorklund scored 17 points for Tennessee (22-10).
