2 Will Be Charged as Adults in Attack
Two Montgomery County teens will be charged as adults in a gang-related stabbing Wednesday at a bus stop in the Aspen Hill area of Silver Spring, Montgomery police said yesterday.
Alvin Rey Valdez, 16, and Jose Romero, 14, were arrested Friday and charged with attempted murder and other offenses. They remain in custody.
According to police, the teens exchanged gang signs with a 20-year-old Silver Spring man near Georgia and Hewitt avenues before the attack. Valdez and Romero approached the man and the three began fighting in a bus shelter at the intersection.
Valdez stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife, critically injuring him, police said.

Police Probe Misconduct Accusation
The D.C. police internal affairs unit is investigating how two Northwest residents were injured after police were called to their home about a possible burglary.
On Tuesday, officers responded to a two-story rowhouse in the 800 block of Sheridan Street NW after a neighbor reported seeing two men climbing through a window. Police later learned that one of the men lived in the house but had forgotten his keys.
The men, Isabel Moreno, 69, and his son, Carlos Hernandez, 21, said they were beaten by the responding officers.
"Whenever we have an allegation of police misconduct or brutality, the police department conducts an investigation by our internal affairs as protocol," said police spokesman Israel James.
The family's dog remained at Friendship Hospital for Animals. The officers are accused of shooting the German shepherd twice after it exited the home.
Veterinarian Ashley Hughes said the hospital received more than $4,700 in donations for the dog's care. The dog will not need surgery and should regain its ability to walk, Hughes said.
