-- Local sauce, with an international flavor: Vienna resident and Culinary Institute of America graduate Keaton Hopkins, 25, has put his postgraduate training at the School of Italian Cuisine in Jesi, Italy, to good use in creating Cucina 39, a new line of pasta sauces.

The name stems from Hopkins's passion for all things Italian, combining the Italian word for "kitchen" with Italy's country calling code.

The sauces are all-natural and gluten-free, made in small batches with imported San Marzano tomatoes, fresh basil, olive oil and onions. Marinara and Fra Diavolo varieties are available, with more flavors and pastas in the works. 24 ounces, $10, sold at the Organic Butcher in McLean (703-790-8300), Arrowine in Arlington (703-535-0990) and Wegmans in Cockeysville, Md. (for $6.99; 410-773-3900).
