Capitol College Lowers Summer Course Tuition
Capitol College in Laurel will lower undergraduate tuition rates by a third for the summer semester, university officials announced. In addition to easing the economic strain of college, the lower rates are also intended to give students a chance to earn college credits during summer and help them complete their graduation requirements sooner.
"Taking courses in the summer is an excellent idea for undergraduate students," said Helen Barker, dean of Capitol's School of Business and Information Management. "It can help them improve their GPA, as they only have to focus on a course or two, and it could also help them get back on track if they are falling behind."
Students who take summer courses tend to graduate earlier than others, "which gets them into the job hunting pool sooner rather than later," she said.
Undergraduate courses in Capitol's engineering, computer science or technology degree programs will cost $401 per credit hour, and business and management courses will be $219 per credit hour. Registration for the summer semester begins Tuesday at the university, at 11301 Springfield Rd.
