Arenas, who has yet to play this season and played only 13 regular season games last season on a left knee that has been surgically repaired three times, has waffled about whether he would play at all this season, but appeared to make up his mind yesterday while leaving a little wiggle room.

"First, I have to see how I feel in practice this week," Arenas said. "Then, I have to be totally cleared with the medical staff and then, I have to talk to [interim coach Ed Tapscott] about a plan for how I'm going to play."

Prior to last night's game against Chicago, Tapscott said he had held a "brief" conversation with Arenas yesterday.

"It's wonderful that he wants to come back and play," Tapscott said. "What we have to do now is formulate a plan and make sure that all responsible parties weigh in and do this in a way that is beneficial to everybody, and that is the process we are going through right now. So we are hopeful that we'll have all of our ducks in a line so that will be a reality. We're not yet 100 percent sure."

Meantime, center Brendan Haywood will practice today for the first time since undergoing surgery on his right wrist in October. Last week, Haywood said he needed "five to 10 good, hard practices" before even thinking about playing. The team will practice today, Thursday and Friday and then likely hold about 11 more practices before the season concludes April 15 at Boston.
