Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton and Brittany Rayburn led five Purdue players in double digits with 18 points apiece, and sixth-seeded Purdue (24-10) beat third-seeded North Carolina, 85-70, in the second round in Chattanooga, Tenn., after losing to the Tar Heels (28-7) in two of the past three NCAA tournaments. . . .

Epiphanny Prince scored 27 points and seventh-seeded Rutgers (21-12) beat Auburn, 80-52, in Piscataway, N.J.

They jumped all over Auburn, scoring the first nine points of the game. Inside and out the Tigers couldn't stop the Scarlet Knights. By the time the game reached the first TV timeout, Rutgers led 13-2. Two minutes later the Scarlet Knights extended the advantage to 22-4 as Heather Zurich completed a four-point play and Brittany Ray capped the long run with a three-pointer to the delight of the home crowd.

Zurich and Kia Vaughn wouldn't let their final home game end in defeat. Vaughn had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Zurich added 12 to help pace a balanced offense that had four players in double figures.

Khadijah Rushdan added 9 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the Scarlet Knights.

DeWanna Bonner scored 17 to lead Auburn (30-4), which shot a season-worst 28 percent from the field.

The Tigers missed 10 of their first 12 shots and Bonner, who was the SEC player of the year averaging 21.2 points, didn't score her first basket until hitting a three-pointer that made it 29-13. She did her best to try and keep Auburn in the game scoring eight straight points, but a balanced Rutgers offense kept pouring it on.

The Scarlet Knights led 43-23 on backup center Rashidat Junaid's free throw with 2 minutes left -- the largest deficit Auburn's had all season. . . .

In Seattle, Shavonte Zellous scored nine of her 24 points in the final four minutes to help Pittsburgh (25-7) post a 65-60 win over Gonzaga (27-7).

West: Stanford Cruises

Freshman Nnemkadi Ogwumike dominated inside with career highs of 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead second-seeded Stanford to a 77-49 win over San Diego State (24-8) in San Diego. The Cardinal (31-4), which has won 18 straight games, next plays third-seeded Ohio State on Saturday. . . .

In Columbus, Ohio, Jantel Lavender had 20 points and Ohio State (29-5) scored its final 10 points on free throws in a 64-58 triumph over Mississippi State. Star Allen added 12 points and 10 rebounds, saving her best for last. She rebounded a missed free throw with 15 seconds left and then added two clinching free throws for the Buckeyes, who have won 10 in a row and 15 of 17.

Tysheka Grimes scored 20 of her 22 points in the opening half for the Bulldogs (23-10), and Alexis Rack added 19 points.

South: Vanderbilt Wins

Jennifer Risper scored 27 points and Christina Wirth added 24 as fourth-seeded Vanderbilt beat fifth-seeded Kansas State, 74-61, in the second round in Albuquerque, N.M. The Commodores (26-8) advanced to the region semifinals, where they'll play next weekend against the winner of tonight's game between Maryland and Utah.

Ashley Sweat led the fifth-seeded Wildcats (25-8) with 17 points while Marlies Gipson scored 16 and Shalee Lehning had 10.
