Enforcement experience: Spent 12 years as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he was head of the white-collar-crime unit

Major cases: Part of team that prosecuted the infamous "blind sheik" Omar Ahmed Ali Abdel Rahman in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Led another team that arrested more than 120 people on securities fraud charges in 2000, the most simultaneous arrests in Department of Justice history

Personal: Native of Rochester, N.Y.; son of professional ballroom dancers
