Marine Museum Collects $10 Million Donation
The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation received a $10 million donation from Lockheed Martin that will help fund the expansion of the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
The donation from the Bethesda-based global security company will be used to add a large-screen theater to the museum complex and to advance education and community outreach programs.
Foundation officials said the gift "significantly" advances their effort to raise $85 million for the completion of the museum and heritage center in Quantico. Other expansion projects in the works include a memorial park and chapel as well as an interactive exhibit that chronicles the Marine Corps' contributions since its founding in 1775.
