About 50 Prince William County residents were displaced this morning after a pre-dawn fire roared through their Manassas apartment building, authorities said.
The two-alarm blaze damaged 18 apartments in a garden-style complex in the 11000 block of Edgepark Circle, said Kim Hylander, a spokeswoman for the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.
A firefighter fell through the floor and sustained minor injuries while fighting the blaze, but no one else was hurt, Hylander said.
The fire, in a neighborhood near the junction of Interstate 66 and Route 234 (Sudley Road), was reported by a neighbor shortly before 4 a.m.
Hylander said Red Cross officials were offering to assist any displaced residents who need shelter or clothing. Fire marshals remained on the scene of the fire this morning, investigating its cause and point of origin.
