For the third time in three days, the temperature at Dulles International Airport reached 92 degrees yesterday as a record-setting late April heat wave continued.

Yesterday's 92 tied a record set at Dulles in 1990, and Sunday's 92 also matched a mark set in 1990.

The 92-degree reading at Dulles on Saturday set a record for April 25, outstripping the old mark by four degrees.

The highest temperature ever reached at Dulles for the month of April is 93 degrees, recorded April 17, 2002.

Across the Washington region, 90-degree readings were widespread in the past three days, recorded in Baltimore, Richmond and Martinsburg, W.Va.

Each of those places registered three consecutive days in the 90s; yesterday's 91 degrees in Martinsburg tied a 52-year-old record.

Saturday's 92 degrees in Martinsburg set a record for the date, outstripping the 90-degree figure reached in 1960.

However, in only one of the past three days did the mercury at Reagan National Airport, the city's official measuring station, rise into the 90s.

Sunday's 92-degree figure fell two degrees short of the record, which was set 94 years ago. Saturday's high was 87, and yesterday's was 88.
