Men

Maryland at No. 7 Notre Dame

When: Today, noon. Where: Alumni Field, South Bend, Ind.

TV: ESPNU. Records: Terrapins 9-6, Fighting Irish 15-0.

Outlook: Maryland A Will Yeatman's return to Notre Dame, where he began his college career as a lacrosse and football player, is an intriguing story line, but Irish Coach Kevin Corrigan is just as concerned with sophomore A Grant Catalino, who leads the Terrapins with 22 goals and 21 assists. Notre Dame went 2-0 against other tournament teams -- 9-7 home wins over North Carolina and Villanova -- compared with Maryland's 2-5 mark, which included a controversial seven-overtime loss at Virginia.

Villanova at No. 1 Virginia

When: Today, 2:30 p.m. Where: Klockner Stadium, Charlottesville.

TV: ESPNU. Records: Wildcats 11-5, Cavaliers 13-2.

Outlook: Despite losing two of its past three games -- both to Duke -- Virginia received the top seed in the tournament. The Cavaliers, led by a Tewaaraton finalist in senior A Danny Glading (24 goals, 27 assists), are in the NCAA tournament for the 32nd time. Villanova is making its first NCAA tournament appearance after becoming the lowest seed (No. 4) to win the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. The Wildcats lost to the Cavaliers in their only previous meeting, a 21-6 blowout in 1993.
