Arts Barn Seeks Applicants For Resident Artist Space

Gaithersburg's Cultural Arts Advisory Committee is seeking local arts groups or individual artists to participate in the city's Arts Barn Resident Artists Program.

Resident artists, selected by a jury, rent studio space at the Arts Barn and help run the arts center's educational programs. The artists are required to commit to community outreach work, which could include teaching, lecturing or conducting workshops.

Two studios are available for lease and come with a sink, cabinet area and strong lighting. Artists must provide any other equipment or furniture. Some art media and scale restrictions apply.

Applicants must submit a $25 registration fee, an essay describing their proposed community outreach activities and how they would use the studio space, a CD with photos of their artwork and an application form by June 12. Forms are available at http://www.gaithersburgmd.gov/artsbarn.

For information, contact Andi Rosati, Arts Barn director, at 301-258-6394 or arosati@gaithersburgmd.gov.
