Staying Away From D.C., With Pleasure

Courtland Milloy's May 27 Metro column, "D.C.'s Graham Makes No Apology for Squeezing Suburban Scofflaws," should have been titled "D.C.'s Graham Says Maryland Drivers Should Stay Out of D.C."
I live in Silver Spring, about three miles from the District line, and I stay out of the District whenever possible. When driving in D.C., I have to contend with poor street conditions, poorly posted speed limits and parking signs that are difficult to understand. D.C. also has aggressive parking enforcement and unreliable law enforcement.
Consider D.C. Council member Jim Graham's comments duly noted; I will continue to stay out of D.C. I also will make sure that my friends and family who come to visit this summer do not spend one minute of their time or one dime of their tourist dollars there.
