Our Endorsements in Today's Contested Races on Northern Virginia Ballots

PROGNOSTICATORS say that few voters are likely to turn out for today's primary election in Virginia, which features Democratic races for governor and lieutenant governor as well as for four House of Delegates seats in Northern Virginia; only 3.45 percent of the electorate voted when James Webb defeated Harris Miller in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in 2006.

Yet, with an opportunity to shape outcomes on key issues -- from transportation to redistricting reform to gun control -- Virginia Democrats should make every effort to cast a ballot and prove the experts wrong. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. To find your polling place, go to the Virginia State Board of Elections Web site (http://www.sbe.virginia.gov).
