Howard Bennett's June 8 KidsPost article on sea creatures ["Ever Wondered What Lurks on the Ocean Floor?"] described them as "gross," disgusting," "ugly," "ghastly" and "bizarre." And the photo caption? "Yuck."

Is it any wonder that attracting young learners to science is so difficult?

Next time, Bennett should use words like "fascinating," "amazing," "curious" and "wonderful" and perhaps even hint about the study of how such wonders came to be.
