SE Boy Dies After Being Hit by Vehicle
Two cars collided in Southeast Washington yesterday morning, killing a 14-year-old boy who was standing on the side of the road and sending a woman, 42, to the hospital.
No charges have been filed in the incident, which unfolded about 8:30 a.m. A 2003 Kia Optima was trying to make a left turn onto Sheridan Road from the southbound lane of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when it collided with a 2003 Nissan 350z headed in the opposite direction, according to police.
The driver of the Nissan lost control, jumped the curb and struck James Perkins and the woman, both of Southeast, police said. The teen was declared dead about 30 minutes later at a hospital. The woman and the drivers were treated and released.
