Suspect in Fairfax Death Is Arrested in Pr. George's

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Tyree Harvey, 18, of no fixed address, early yesterday in connection with the death of a man in the Woodlawn section of Fairfax County, authorities said.

Fairfax police said William J. Bowie, 54, also of no fixed address, was found dead on a sidewalk in the 9100 block of Richmond Highway shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday by fire and rescue workers responding to an unrelated call. Police said the cause of death appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Harvey was arrested in Prince George's County and taken to the Prince George's County Correctional Center. He was awaiting extradition to Fairfax, where warrants for murder and attempted robbery will be served, police said.

Woman Hit at Bethesda Metro Stop Is 2nd Weekend Death on Tracks

For the second time in two days, a person was struck and killed by a Metro train yesterday. About 1 p.m. yesterday, an unidentified woman "placed herself on the tracks" at the Bethesda Metro station and was hit by a Glenmont-bound train, forcing authorities to temporarily close the station, Metro spokeswoman Candace Smith said. Coupled with scheduled maintenance elsewhere on the Red Line, the incident caused major delays, Smith said.

A little before noon Saturday, an unidentified man put himself in front of an Orange Line train at the Potomac Avenue Station and was killed.
